Bad Foot Odor: These Are The Natural Remedies To Eliminate It

Bad foot odor

A person’s good appearance is made up of various elements, which do not necessarily have to do with the best clothes or good shoes, a glamorous hairstyle, or luxury accessories.

Much of that, which is also called a good image, is related to personal hygiene, grooming, and neatness.

But there are health-related situations that can interfere with and ruin even a person’s impeccable image. Specifically, when a person smells bad, it generates rejection from those around them and creates awkward situations.

Furthermore, in the case of feet, this often occurs due to health problems, sometimes minor and sometimes more serious, that warrant a medical consultation. However, in many cases, foot odor can be resolved with natural remedies.

Natural remedies to eliminate foot odor

It is quite common for foot odor, a problem whose medical name is bromhidrosis, to be caused by bacteria that live in places that tend to get damp (and stay damp), such as closed shoes and socks.

All of this, combined with sweat, creates the unpleasant odor in the feet.

In any case, it is advisable to consult a doctor to rule out that the problem is a consequence of metabolic problems, the consumption of certain medications, or even foods.

For more manageable problems, you can try natural remedies to eliminate foot odor. Here are the best options:

Baking soda. It can be applied in two different ways. One option is to sprinkle two teaspoons inside your shoes, which will also absorb moisture. Ideally, this should be done at night. The other option is to soak your feet in warm water with two tablespoons of baking soda for 15 to 20 minutes.

Sage. This plant is known for its various healing properties because, among other things, it reduces excessive sweating and fights bacteria. For this purpose, it is recommended to make a sage infusion and soak your feet in it for 15 minutes. You can also place several dried sage leaves inside your shoes to absorb odors.

Apple cider vinegar. It helps regulate the skin’s pH and eliminate odor-causing bacteria. Mix 5 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a bowl of warm water and soak your feet for at least 10 minutes. Then, wash your feet and dry them thoroughly (using a hairdryer if necessary).

Black tea. To combat foot odor, steep 4 black tea bags in 1 liter of boiling water, let it cool, and pour it into a container large enough to soak your feet. Submerge your feet and leave them to soak for at least 20 minutes.

Ginger: This root is a natural remedy with various uses. To combat foot odor, grate a medium-sized ginger root, mix it in a pot with water, bring to a boil, and let it simmer for 15 minutes. Strain and massage the infusion into your feet at night before going to bed.
