Profeco conducted a quality analysis of 27 sanitary napkin models from 12 different brands, focusing on products designed for regular, heavy, and overweight flows.
The results, published in the May issue of Consumer Magazine, revealed that all tested options met marketing disclosure standards and earned “Excellent” ratings for adhesiveness, with no significant defects.
Winners by flow type
Regular or moderate flow:
- Intima and Aurrerá stood out as the best options for their quality-price ratio.
Heavy flow:
- The highest-rated products were Aurrerá, Envisage, and Ecco Bella.
Superabundant flow:
- Always and MIA (in long and hyper-long versions) led this segment.
Price differences: affordable quality
Although all products showed similar quality, Profeco emphasized that there are significant price differences. For example:
- For regular flow, the Always Ultra Gel package with 24 pieces costs approximately 80 pesos (3.3 pesos per unit), while Aurrerá offers 28 pieces for 29 pesos, with a unit cost of just over one peso.
- In the high-flow segment, MIA costs around 4 pesos per unit with an “Excellent” rating, compared to Stela by Lambi at 2 pesos per unit and a “Very Good” rating.
- For heavy flow, Always (rated “Excellent”) costs 8 pesos per unit, while Feelings Maxi, Fiore, and Kotex offer options at 2 pesos per unit.
- For moderate flows, Naturella, rated “Good,” is the most expensive at 3 pesos per unit, while Kotex and Saba (rated “Very Good”) are both priced at 2 pesos per unit.
