Oily skin

Oily Skin? Check Out These Tips To Keep It At Bay.

Having naturally oily skin can even lead to acne. It’s caused by overproduction of sebum, which can be influenced by numerous factors, including genetics, stress, hormonal changes, and the use of certain makeup products.

Here are some simple tips that anyone can follow to keep their oily skin at bay.

Always check the composition of the products

When looking for facial cleansers, check their ingredients and make sure to choose oil-free and non-comedogenic products , as these types of products are less likely to irritate your skin and clog pores. Try to avoid alcohol-based products.

Instead, opt for a gentle facial cleanser and use it every morning and night.

If you are prone to acne, products containing salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide may be helpful.

Don’t be afraid to hydrate yourself

For fear of making your skin look oilier, it can be tempting to avoid moisturizers; however, a good moisturizer can be beneficial.

Try to buy water-based, non-oil-based products that also contain SPF.

Aloe vera has been shown to  naturally soothe and moisturize skin, so choose products that contain at least 10% aloe vera , as they tend to be more effective.

Have fun with face masks

Face masks can be very helpful in soothing oily skin.

Clay masks containing minerals, such as bentonite clay or smectite clay, can absorb oils and reduce sebum levels without irritating. Use them once or twice a week and always follow with a moisturizer.

Masks containing raw honey have also been found to reduce acne and oily skin thanks to their antibacterial properties.

Every skin is unique, and you’ll need to try different products to find out which one works for you.

Several studies suggest a relationship between stress levels and oily skin. Others, meanwhile, link it to various foods, such as milk.

We recommend keeping a journal to truly understand your skin and how it reacts to external factors. This way, you’ll be able to figure out what best suits your skin’s needs and, over time, develop a skincare routine.
